Practical guidance for preparing a delayed, damaged or lost baggage claim. Airline review and the facts of each journey still apply.
Report the delay to the airline, keep the PIR reference, save receipts for reasonable essential purchases and submit the evidence through the operating airline's official claim route. BagClaim organises those documents into one reviewable claim pack.
Useful evidence commonly includes the PIR or file reference, baggage tag, boarding pass or booking confirmation, expense receipts, photographs of damage and relevant airline messages. The exact evidence depends on whether the bag was delayed, damaged or lost.
Under the Montreal Convention, a passenger may enforce rights relating to lost baggage when the carrier admits the loss or when the baggage has not arrived within 21 days after it should have arrived. Carrier rules and the facts of the journey still need review.
Start with the airline that operated the baggage journey, especially the final flight segment. A codeshare ticket may show a different marketing airline. BagClaim matches supported carriers to verified official forms and portals.
